For as long as I can remember I have been interested in stones, and mesmerized by fire. To this day, When I solder components together, the flame still captivates me.
I work primarily with geometric shapes, using silver, gold fused to silver, epoxy mixed with pigment, torch fired enamel and stones. I am especially interested in the way color created from epoxy mixed with pigment or enamel, can transform a piece of jewelry, whether it’s applied in the crevices of the metal, in soldered cells or is used as surface design. The wide range of color possibilities continues to be a source of fascination. There are always new color pigments to try and to mix. Because of the emphasis on surface, I am always working to keep the design elements simple….if something doesn’t need to be there, it goes. What remains, are the essential, most minimal elements. I live in Dallas, Texas with my husband, Bob, who is a psychologist. Our 2 children, Ami and Adam are grown; one living in San Antonio, and the other in Japan. I have taught jewelry fabrication for the last 5 years at Brookhaven College, Continuing Education. |
