About

How well do you know your files?  You can use your files to acheive a tremendous range of changes in a metal surface's form - both in wire and sheet metal.  Files are for far more than cleaning up excess solder - they can carve and shape your metal, adding senstive contours to your jewelry and metalwork.

Join Instructor Jessica Jacobi to get better acquainted with what your metal files are capable of, and finish a carved silver ring!  The workshop will include a detailed discussion of different file shapes, cuts, and capabilities, along with examples of finished metalwork where files created decorative effects.  Each student will receive a soldered silver ring made out of thick round wire stock, and they will use files to carve and create a unique ring shape.  The class will all begin this journey with uniform thick wire silver rings, but by the end of the workshop, everyone will produce a unique ring that showcases differnet file capabilities.

Students are welcome to bring their own files to use in the workshop, but Charisma Design Studio will also have several sets of files available for student use.  After registering, each student will be asked for their preferred ring size, so that the instructor can prepare their soldered silver ring for carving in class.
