Description
This class is a great opportunity to develop stone setting, fabrication, and soldering skills through a 2
day project. Our projects will be open back bezel/prong rings (bottom piece will be a wire), band ring
with a flush setting and tube setting. This class will focus on technique, and we will make a ring with the
techniques learned in class. I’ll show you the fastest, most efficient ways, and we will finish your piece in
the workshop!
Pre-requisites
Intermediate to advanced (familiar with silver soldering).

Younha Jung
Bio
Younha was born and raised in South Korea and graduated with an MFA at Kent State
University. Her specialty is wearable contemporary metalwork. She has had numerous
solo/group exhibitions internationally, and has had several Artist in Residencies: Houston
Center for Contemporary Craft, Chicago Lillstreet Art Center, and the Seattle Pratt Fine Art
Center. She earned the “2016 Emerging Artist Award” from the American Craft Council and
The Award of Merit Prize “CraftTexas2016” from the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft.
Her pieces have been published in New Brooch, JAMS ,Tales from the Toolbox, and
American Craft Council magazines. Currently she is a studio artist and the Art Lab Manager at
TXRX Labs in Houston,TX.
Lunch: We recommend that you bring a bag lunch as The Coffee Bar on the first Floor of the Glassell Building has a limited selection of food and the only other nearby restaurant is the Museum Cafe. There are no vending machines in the building.
Please bring the following tools/supplies:
Scriber
Silver solder: hard, medium, and easy
All other workshop materials will be provided as a kit, and are included in the workshop fee.
